Welcome to Class 6L

In Year 6 our class teacher is Mr Lawton and we are also supported in our learning by Mrs Hemmingway and Mrs Varley. Being in our final year at Overdale School, we are focusing on responsibility, in making sure that we are role models for other children - which we do brilliantly! In Year 6 at Overdale School we are working extremely hard in all curriculum areas making sure that we are ready for our transition up to secondary school.

A huge part of our learning is focused around reading, where our whole class text drives other areas of the curriculum. This year will we will be continuing with our Talk4Writing building on our fiction and non fiction writing. We also have a huge focus on our maths, in which we always like to make sure that we are solving real life problems using our mathematical skills and using manipulatives to help demonstrate our understanding.

We are also very fortunate to be working towards our national curriculum swimming awards, where we go swimming every Monday morning. Please ensure that swimming kits are in school every Monday and that ear rings are removed.

We use class dojos to keep parents and children up to date with events, homework and celebrating our achievements. It's a great space to see exactly what we have done within the classroom!
